Frequently Asked Questions

"Do I need to provide any cleaning products?"

Nope! I will bring all the cleaning products I need. All I need from you is running water! I would also like to use your toilet brush and vacuum, if available. If not, I can provide my own.

"Are you bonded & insured?"

Julie's Cleaning is insured with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, with a million dollars in liability coverage. This covers me and anyone employed by me.

"How long will it take to clean my house?"

Most houses take between 3.5 and 4.5 hours to clean. These houses usually range in square footage from 1,700 to 3,000 square feet, have about 3-4 bedrooms, and 1.5 to 2.5 bathrooms. Different factors affect the time it takes - for example, a bathroom with a shower/tub combo with a curtain (ie, no glass door) is about 40 minutes faster to clean than a bathroom with a jetted tub and separate shower stall. In the kitchen, a glass cook-top range will be about 20-25 minutes faster to clean than one with removable parts.

For a house that's more like 4,000- 5,000 square feet, you can probably expect a time closer to 6 hours for a cleaning. Having lots of knick knacks to dust also increases the time, no matter the square footage of the home.

"Can I just pay you to clean for a certain amount of time?"

Absolutely. You can decide whatever you want to pay, and I will clean for that amount of time. Just give me a list of what is a priority and I will start from there!

"How often should you come?"

Most people like me to come every two weeks. It's a nice round number, and it keeps your house in shape before the dust or grime becomes too noticeable.

If you are fairly clean, and/or there are only 1 or 2 people/animals living in the house (for example, one adult and one dog), you might only need me monthly. But with more than 2 or 3 people/animals, especially young children (sticky fingerprints!), and/or a heavy-shedding animal, I definitely recommend biweekly or even weekly.

"Do you usually clean while the homeowners are home, or away?"

Most homeowners are away, and that does help us clean more efficiently. But it's up to you and what you are comfortable with. A lot of people like to be there at least for the first time I clean, to meet me, etc.

"I have a small office/small business. Do you do commercial cleaning?"

I can certainly clean a small business, but we only work Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. We don't mind cleaning while you work, if you don't mind!

"Can I change what you do each time?"

Of course! Just let us know.

"Speaking of payments, what forms do you accept or prefer?"

Cash, checks, and card are all accepted. If you do card, I can even store your card info to charge it myself whenever there is a cleaning, if that’s easier for you.

"Have your employees been background checked?"

Of course. They have clean backgrounds and I approve of their cleaning capabilities. Otherwise, I wouldn't hire them! :)
